Gay and Katie Hendricks talk was like watching love veterans perform a conscious comedy stand up routine at a seminar.By far my favorite event The Consciousness Network has put on.
Here were my notes and quotes from The Hendricks.
Relationships are a race to play the victim.
Authenticity opens up your aliveness.
They are about open communication and genuine intimacy. The Hendricks promote being genuinely interested in what the other partner is saying.Instead of just passively listening. Active listening comes from true genuine interest.
Everyone has addictions in relationships like the being right addiction.
The Adrenaline Addiction is the biggest addiction in relationships.
Their talk actively engages the audience through various invitations to participate. In the need to blame the couple instructed the audience to point their finger at others and say "ha". Then to neutralize the blame The Hendricks had the audience reverse the pointing finger to a related hand toward ones self while making a "hmm" sound, as if to reflect on ones personal responsibility in the matter. Lost of laughter, fun and easy learning was had by all.
Both people need to be committed to their Creativity.
As both parties in a relationship need to be committed to following their creative passions for the energy to flow in the relationship.
In relationships there must be play. Look for the play signals.
Relationships that last have 5 appreciations to 1 negative are lasting.
Relationships that have 5 negatives to every 1 positive are headed for break up station.
How do you like to be appreciated? Ask your partner how they like to be appreciated. Then appreciated them more in that way.
Society wants you to be anxious and nervous so you buy stuff. So you disconnect from how you really feel.
On the subject of opposites attract.
Opposites are an opportunity to learn from each other, rather then be the same.
There's and urge to merge and an urge to be an individual
Differences can be learned from and honored as a point of discovery not separation. - Katie Hendricks
